The ASEAN Centre of Biodiversity (ACB), based in the Philippines, together with Sahabat Alam and the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences of the University of Indonesia (FMIPA UI) initiated the ASEAN Youth Forum. The event consists of Biodiversity seminar that aims to improve the awareness on the ASEAN biodiversity and expand the connection of young generation in all ASEAN.
The seminar kicked off with the introduction from Dr. Re. Nat. Abdul Haris, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences of University of Indonesia and continued by Dr. Dicky Simorangkir, acting as the International Adviser / Deputy Director Biodiversity and Climate Change Project GIZ. Other speakers also invited are Adeline Tiffanie Suwana, the founder of Sahabat Alam and Mr. Roberto V. Olivia, the Executive Director ASEAN Centre of Biodiversity (ACB).
To highlight the importance of youth awareness to biodiversity, Sahabat Alam shared seedlings to Dr.re.nat. Abdul Haris, Dr.rer.nat Yasnan, M.Sc, the Head of FMIPA UI Department and a representative undergraduate student to be planted in the university grounds.
