Sahabat Alam participated in an awareness campaign to save ‘Jambul Kuning’, or known as yellow-crested cockatoo that is currently critically endangered due to illegal poaching. It is estimated that current population is rapidly decreasing. The event was a collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Indonesia and Sahabat Alam. The Minister of Environment and Forestry, Dr. Ir. Siti Nurbaya Bakar, M.Sc., and Ibu Sinta Nuriyah Wahid, wife of late President of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid. They shared their concerns on the yellow-crested cockatoo. It is stressed that more national park and conservation should be established to prevent extinction.
