As the youngest member of society and future heir of our earth, children are one of the most important actors to be included in the fight against environmental destruction. Thus, the awareness of current environmental issues and also the sense of belonging and responsibility towards nature should be proliferated as early as possible, to as many as possible.

As an effort to encourage young minds in taking care of the environment around them, Sahabat Alam participates in TPS Food Vaganza 2009 under the theme of “Love My School” in North Parking Area, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. The event is attended by children of 210 Primary and Secondary Schools from Jabodetabek, Cilegon and Bogor wearing unique costumes and proudly showing their commitment to take care of the environment closest to them, which is their school. The event is also filled with various games and shows as well as direct involvement in environment preservation efforts through making biopores.

Through this event, it is hoped that the children will perceive environmental efforts as something fun and feasible for them to join. The children are also encouraged to start preserving nature in small steps through establishing good habit like throwing trash in the appropriate places, maintaining their school’s environment and many more.
