Each year on April 22, every part of the world celebrate the earth as our only home and as an annual reminder that we need to improve, if not add, current preservation efforts. This day is always used to promote those efforts, raise awareness and provide a platform for people to start being involved. Seeing how conservation measures heavily relies on people’s awareness and direct involvement, Earth Day is an essential tool to garner mass.
Sahabat Alam also sees this and decided to use the momentum to share knowledge and raise awareness about urgent environment issues. On Earth Day 2011, Sahabat Alam held mass planting of Kecapi, Ketapang and Manglin trees with youths of Marunda Baru, North Jakarta. It is hoped that this event will set an example for young generations to follow as well as good habits to always protect the environment they live in.
