Each year on April 22, every part of the world celebrate the earth as our only home and as an annual reminder that we need to improve, if not add, current preservation efforts. This day is always used to promote those efforts, raise awareness and provide a platform for people to start being involved. Seeing how conservation measures heavily relies on people’s awareness and direct involvement, Earth Day is an essential tool to garner mass.
Sahabat Alam also sees this and decided to use the momentum to share knowledge and raise awareness about urgent environment issues. On Earth Day 2009, Sahabat Alam held seminars to educate young minds about Indonesian environmental issues and form a sense of belonging and responsibility towards nature among young generations. This seminar invites all participants to start cleaning public gardens, plant more trees and install biopores. It is hoped that this seminar will set an example for young generations to follow as well as good habits to always protect the environment they live in.
