Every November 28, Indonesian Ministry of Forestry commemorates National Tree Planting Day National Planting Month every December. The celebration was attended by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Indonesian President with Ani Yudhoyono, the First Lady; Boediono, Indonesian Vice President; Zulkifli Hasan, Indonesian Minister of Forestry together with Kabinet Indonesia II's Ministers, Government Officials, Foreign Ambassadors and other invited guests in the HMPI and BMN 2012 at Kawasan Hutan Kota, Komplek Bandara International Soekarno-Hatta, Cengkareng.

The event is held in accordance with Indonesian President's Regulation RI No. 24 Year 2008 with the theme "Hutan Kota Mendorong Terwujudnya Indonesia Hijau". The event was also an occasion to appreciate local leaders and other actors in their support and contribution towards the Billion Trees Planting program.
